6a. Hot Spots

Adding Hot Spots to create Image Maps

Select the Hot Spot tool from the toolbar.  There are three styles of Hot Spots that can be added to an image, rectangle, circle, or polygon.

An image has to be on the page to use the Hot Spot tool to create image maps.  There can be multiple hot spots on the page but than cannot overlap.  Links are placed behind the hot spots.

This example shows the Hot Spot rectangle drawn around the Graphics & Web Design text on the image. The Link properties windows opens and you select the page that the hot spot links to.

The Hot Spot tool is selected on the toolbar shown at the left.  The little triangle in the bottom right corner indicated that the toolbar will fly out when clicked and other selections will be available.  The "rectangle" shape is selected.

Here's an example of the "circle" hot spot.  Follow the same steps to create a circular hot spot.

This example shows all three styles of hot spots.  The polygon tool lets you draw the lines to connecting points to create the shape.
